Caring for Epoxy Live-Edge Furniture
Epoxy and wood behave differently, so good care protects both.
Everyday cleaning
- Use a soft cloth with mild soap and water; dry immediately.
- Avoid ammonia, bleach, and abrasive pads.
Heat
Most cured epoxies soften at relatively low temperatures compared to stone. Always use trivets under hot dishes and coasters under mugs.
Sunlight
UV can yellow epoxy and change wood color over time. Keep tables out of long direct sun or use UV-filtering window film — especially relevant in Hawaiʻi.
Humidity
Wood moves with humidity. Avoid placing the table next to AC vents, heaters, or open lanai doors exposed to weather.
Scratches
Light scratches in many finishes can be buffed out with fine polishing compounds; ask your maker which products match your finish before trying.
Waterfall tables
Wipe up any drips when topping up, keep the reservoir filled, and follow the pump maintenance schedule.
